"The Path of Integration and Ascent in the Knowledge of the Soul"
Know that every Posture (Wad')1 has an Encounter/Facing (Muwajaha)2 from every direction toward its Principle (Mubdi')3.
Footnotes
1Posture (Al-Wad'): Is among the Ten Categories (Al-Maqulat al-'Ashr). It is the configuration (Hay'a) resulting for a thing from the relation of some of its parts to others, and of the whole to the outside; such as the configuration of standing, sitting, lying supine, and lying prone.
2Facing (Al-Muwajaha): As defined by the author (Sanctified be his secret) after this text, he said: The Remembrance of Allah is the Facing from every direction by cutting off from the sensory world. This is because Man possesses a posture and configuration surrounded by six directions. So if he looks at an Abstract Intelligible and is stripped of density from all his directions, he can perceive the Abstract Lights. At that point, he sees the Deity encompassing the whole. This Facing is called by the Sufis: Sufi Annihilation (Al-Fana' al-Sufi).“And I passed away [in annihilation] until if Annihilation imagined me, It would not know where I am; while in Him is my station.”
3The Initiator (Al-Mubdi): The Creator, the Maker, the Eternal, the Remaining. He is the Gate of the Present Witnessed Existent. It is upon the Knowing Gnostic of Allah to have a "Correct Posture"—like the posture of a servant in the presence of his Master. And to cast off all worldly attachments, and release his Intellect and Soul toward the World stripped of materials and forms. So he becomes a Light (i.e., an Intellect and a Soul) not attached to or occupied by the preoccupations of the body.At that point, he connects to the Spring of Lights (The Gate of the Absolute Existent) and takes from the High Powers (The Universal Intellect and The Universal Soul) according to the measure of his provision and readiness to witness the Abstract Lights.
