For the origin of the Light and its spring is the Veil (Hijab) from which the Light of the Gate (Nur al-Bab) burst forth. And all the Lights appeared from the Gate, and within it they were concealed.

And he is the Dominant Light (Al-Nur al-Qahir) over all lights, to whom alone is the intent, and [without whom] there is no way to enter the Safe Garden.

Therefore, the Master Al-Sayyid knew that the souls which strip themselves (Tatajarrad) of their bodies and turn away from their pleasures connect to the Gardens of Allah.

And they witness the World of His Holiness and the locus of His Intimacy while they are still immersed in their bodies.

So they learn the Wayfaring (Suluk) to the Ranks of Lights, the mingling with Radiances, the separation from the body at times, and the return to it at other times—while [still] attached to its attachments. And Abstraction (Tajrid) remains for it as long as it possesses the connection to the High Lights and the mingling with the People of Light.

As for the souls of the People of Darkness, when they separate from their bodies and approach the loci connecting to the World of Light, the gleams of Lights overwhelm them. So they turn back on their heels in flight, just as a bat flees from the light of the sun.

And for this, there are witnesses from the saying of the Masters (Mawali)—Exalted be Their Might:

"Whoever knows Allah by [His] Luminousness (Nuraniyya) is secure from Degradation/Metempsychosis (Massukhiyya)."
