They are as Allah the Exalted said: {You think they are together, but their hearts are diverse. That is because they are a people who do not reason.}1
They have not grasped a fragment of knowledge, nor have they verified anything of the inner aspects [Bawatin] of Gnosis, nor have they held fast to a guide who directs them to the main road of Truth and the path of correctness, so that they might tread the paths of the scholars who stood upon the inner meanings of the reports and knew the obscurities of the secrets. Rather, they spoke out of conjecture and what the souls desire, out of audacity from them and ignorance, and a lack of concern for the sudden onsets2 of Allah's punishment and His wrath.
Then, they moved on to speaking about the Elegized Form [al-Surah al-Marthiyyah], and they diverted by their sayings to subjects far removed from the intended objective which the Exaggerators [Ghulat] urged towards and relied upon. Thus, they brought forth sayings that are distant from the intended meaning and corrupt the belief.
