And He alerted by His saying: {Whoever Allah guides is the [rightly] guided.}1

I have been displeased by the state of this community of our brothers—may Allah the Exalted grant them success—regarding [their] disagreement, deviation, lack of fairness, and the abundance of claims [made] by the adept and the beginner, acting arbitrarily regarding reports and issues concerning Manifestations [Zuhurat] and the secrets of the science of Oneness [Tawhid]. And [I am displeased by] their reliance upon sayings for which, if they are challenged regarding them, no answer is found with them except dumbfoundedness2, sophistry, denial, and hostility.

Thus, their gatherings contain nothing but falsehoods, and the imitation of the conduct of those who narrated disbelief and nullification. Each one of them has prepared questions to cast when gluttony has taken hold and drink has seized their minds. Consequently, you hear nothing in their gatherings except shouting, aversion, rowdiness, evils, idle talk, foolishness, the abandonment of equity, and the withdrawal from knowledge and gnosis [Ma'rifa].

Footnotes

2Baht al-walad: He was dumbfounded; he was overcome by proof so he was astonished and his color changed. Baht when he saw a strange matter: He was stunned; he fell silent in bewilderment.
