So it is as if the speaker, when he says: "The Visible Form is the Total Goal," has looked at the Outward Totality of Existence and refrained from the Inward1. Because the Outward of Existence is the Visible Form, and the Inward of Existence is the Reality of the Form.

So it is as if he indicated the Abstract Intelligible Inward of the Soul, making the Form visible by the Intellect and the Soul, not by the Sense and the bodily instruments; because the [True] Form is only a Self (Dhat) and a Reality intended by the indication.

Like our saying: "Man possesses a Rational (Natiqa), Intelligent, Discriminating Soul, perceiving realities."

The difference between the "Speaking Soul" (Natiqa) and "Speech" (Nutq) is that the Speaking Soul is a noble, high Substance (Jawhar), whereas Speech is an Accident ('Arad). And the Accident does not subsist by itself, but by another; and whatever subsists by another does not indicate a true indication [of the Essence].

As the Commander of the Faithful (Exalted be His Might) said:

"Speech does not manifest Him, and the Meaning does not reach Him."

Footnotes

1The Visible Form is in the Outward of the General Essential Existence. The Inward of that Existence is the Reality of the Form which does not shift nor vanish; and it is the Indivisible Substance (Al-Jawhar al-Fard) and the one relied upon by the indication. For the Unitarian Gnostic Believer, there are two indications:An Intermediate Sensory Indication.A Final Intellectual and Spiritual Indication. So whoever restricts himself to the Bodily Indication has not reached the reality of Gnosis and Worship, because sensory attributes are subject to change and alteration, and they are fleeting accidents. As for the Anza'iyya Form (Al-Surah al-Anza'iyya — The Inward of Existence), it is a Fixed Substance which change does not overtake, and to it, the Intellectual and Spiritual indication ascends.
