{Knower of the Unseen and the Witnessed }1

So the Unseen is Existence stripped (Mujarrad) of materials and forms. And the Witnessed is the World of Light, the Spread Parchment (Al-Riqq al-Manshur), the Inhabited House (Al-Bayt al-Ma'mur), and the Filled Sea (Al-Bahr al-Masjur)2; and [it is] the Reality of Existence and Manifestation, the Resurrection and the Return, and the Indication of the Hidden, Concealed Secret.

And know—may He teach you the Good—that Light is divided into two parts: Outward and Inward. The Inward is divided into sections, just as the Outward is divided into multiple sections.

The Outward of Light: Has multiple sections, such as the light of the sun, the planets, and the lights derived from them.

And the Inward: Has multiple sections, such as the Abstract Celestial Lights (Al-Anwar al-Mujarrada al-Samawiyya) and what is below them in rank, such as the Intellects (Uqul) and the Souls (Nufus) attributed to humans, and the acts of the faculties. For they are the Good manifest to vision, and the traces of their action are found in Existence. The verification of that is the testimony of the Quran for it, due to the manifestation of its action and the wonders and effects that appear from it to the senses, indicating absolutely the Form of Existence.
