{Light upon Light. Allah guides to His Light whom He wills. And Allah presents examples for the people, and Allah is Knowing of all things.}1

And regarding it He said:

{And there shone from His Light, that which sets within Him.}2

So this Radiant (Sha'sha'ani) Light—emanating from the Spring of Lights, the Originator of Substances, and the Bestower of Forms—was Radiance, and the Radiance was a Shadow. And He established in it the Form of Existence, and He made Existence subsisting by the Light. And the Light—its Inward—is an Essence subsisting by Itself, not in need of a carrier, and independent of what It brought into existence.

Footnotes

1Surah An-Nur, Verse 35.
2In the first part of the text, he spoke about the Human Manifestation. Here, he speaks about the Luminous Manifestation appearing in the Sin (The Letter S / The Station)."And there shone from His Light, that which sets within Him": An indication of the Luminous Manifestation in which the Meaning enters Occultation (Ghayba) during the days of concealment (Sarari); and He is Him in Reality and Substance."So this Radiant (Sha'sha'ani) Light": Meaning the possessor of spreading Radiance, emanating from the Spring of Lights. It is an indication of the Emanating Point (Al-Nuqta al-Faydiyya) dawning from the Essence of the Light of Lights, about which all thoughts are mere illusions."Light of Lights": Is the one who originated the Substances (The Light, the Radiance, and the Shadow), and the one who bestowed the Raiments (Hulal)."And the Radiance was a Shadow": By manifesting the weakness visible to the eyes."And He established in it the Form of Existence (The Luminous Form)": And He made Existence (The Manifestation) subsisting by the Light (The Real Light)."And the Inward of the Light": Is the High Essence, the Indivisible Substance (Al-Jawhar al-Fard) subsisting by Itself, which does not lack a carrier to carry it; rather, He (The Almighty) is independent in His Reality from the sensory Names and Attributes He brought into existence for the need of creation.
