So whoever directs his intent towards him has reached the reality of knowing the Meaning (Al-Ma'na), and has set forth parables for mankind, and what is intended by them is their significations (Madlulatuha). Some of them are lights and simple abstracts (Basa'it Mujarradat), and some of them are densities and perceived sensibles. The densities and the sensibles are instruments for definition and making understood.
Indeed, change and alteration occur in the outward matters; whereas their intelligibles—I mean their abstracts—are the remaining ones. This is because the densities are Accidents (A'rad), while the Intelligibles are Substances (Jawahir). Therefore, the attainment proceeds from the baser—which is the body—to the nobler, which is the Soul and the Intellect.
And it has been said:
"None points to Allah except he who is from Him or from His special Light."
