These are the ones about whom Allah said:

{Rejoicing in what Allah has bestowed upon them of His bounty}.1

But if it inclines with Desire (Hawa), and the lusts of the world overcome it, and Nature settles within it: Satan encompasses it, and it forgets the remembrance of the Most Merciful. So Allah clothes it in humiliation and disgrace and Ruination (Bawar) and Loss.

So Denial (Juhud), Rejection (Inkar), Obstinacy, and Arrogance occur within it. It denied the realities of the reports (Haca'iq al-Akhbar). So at that point, warning does not benefit it, for its destiny is to the Fire, and wretched is the settlement.

And know that the Rational Soul (Al-Nafs al-Natiqa) which is in Man has Eight Powers: Some are Outward and some are Inward.

The Outward are Five: Hearing, Sight, Smell, Taste, and Touch.

The Inward are Three: The Imaginative (Al-Mukhayyila), the Thinking (Al-Mufakkira), and the Reminding/Memory (Al-Mudhakkira). The sum of this is called: The Psychic Spirit (Al-Ruh al-Nafsani).

And it is the nature of this Soul:

If it is attracted to the direction of the Inward Powers, it enacts Justice, Chastity, Religiosity, Integrity, Good Deeds, and what resembles them.

And if it is attracted to the direction of the Outward Powers, it inclines toward the matters of the World.
