[He is] the Knower of the Secret and the Public, and the Knower of what souls hide and chests conceal.

So if the Name and the Veil appear in Humanity, speak among them, guide them to His Essence, and create for them the reality of His Manifestation: It becomes obligatory to follow Him, worship Him, and enter under His commands and prohibitions.

But if He becomes absent, He is sought (intended) in His absence from the direction of His Lights, His Veils, and His Curtains1.

And if the Lights become absent and the Curtains veil [Him], He is sought in His absence from the Majesty of His Omnipotence (Jabarut) and the Inward of His Kingdom (Malakut)2.

For He is not veiled from the one who seeks Him, nor absent from the one who knows Him.

And know that all lights are from His Light, and the form of the movement of Existence is from His Manifestation.

And know that the Dense is carried by the Subtle.

And know that the Heavens and the Earth and whatever is within them of great creation have no Magnitude/Power (Miqdar)3 with the Lord—who is the Universal Soul encompassing the whole in power and wisdom and utterance.

Footnotes

1The Representative Stations (Al-Maqamat al-Mithliyya): And the Meaning (Ma'na) does not appear except by His Essence (Majestic and Exalted be He).
2If He manifests Absence in the Secret Places (Sarari) away from the eyes of beholders:He is sought from the direction of the Absolute Abstract Light via the Intellect and the Soul. For they are capable of roaming in the World of the Kingdom (Malakut) and witnessing the Lights of Omnipotence (Jabarut).(As in the saying: "I saw my Lord with the eye of my heart").
3Magnitude (Miqdar) here means Power (Qudra):For everything in the Upper and Lower Universes has no intrinsic power.Every power is derived from the All-Powerful Lord, and no power can be measured against His Power.
