So whoever does not know Him by Him, does not know Him; rather, he knows "other than Him." The believer only knew Him with his heart1, because the heart erases what the eye sees. For this reason, they likened the knowledge of Allah through bodies to the worship of idols2.

May Allah protect us and you from His wrath.

Footnotes

1And the believer only knew Him with his heart because the heart erases what the eye sees. The Exalted said: {Indeed, the hearing, the sight, and the heart - about all those [one] will be questioned.}Therefore = Hearing, Sight, and the Heart are the pillars responsible for the Gnosis [Ma'rifa] of Allah. And He prioritized Hearing due to the necessity of entering through a Sound Fatherhood [Ubuwwa Sahihah]; for he whose Fatherhood is not sound, his Brotherhood [Ukhuwwa] does not become sound. And the two visions (the Ocular and the Cardiac) are inseparable; it is not permissible for one to detach from the other... The Exalted said: {The heart did not lie about what it saw}... up to His saying: {The sight did not swerve, nor did it transgress.} Thus, His mentioning of the "sight" invalidates your saying that he saw Him with his heart and did not see Him with his eye. Furthermore: Had He not appeared in the Visible Form, His existence would not have been affirmed, nor would His visual witnessing be valid, nor His certainty established.
2The Summary: The Monotheist Gnostic believer must acknowledge that the Worshipped Meaning [al-Ma'na al-Ma'bud] is manifested by His Essence in the Visible Form. Then, he erases with his heart all that his eye saw of shapes, configurations, and outlines from the Essence of the Creator ((It is He, and it is not He)).The eye cannot exceed, with its vision, the calculated visible objects, whereas the Intellect pierces through them with its metaphysical vision. And whatever serves as a container for the eye is not fit to be a God.Sayyid Al-Makzun said: "Affirm what you witnessed from its aspect, by erasing what you witnessed from my aspect." And the Allamah said: "Negating the Form while affirming the existence of the One appearing in it through Power is the very essence of Tawhid."Note: There is a difference between negating the Form and negating the existence of the Form. So, one affirms its existence (as a locus of manifestation), but seeks not to affirm it upon the Essence of the Creator as the eyes see it in terms of configuration and shape.Commentary: Whoever stops at the Wall of Establishment [Jidar al-Tamkin] has likened his Lord to created beings. Thus, the Wayfarer [Salik] must ascend with the wings of the Gnostic Opening [al-Fath al-Ma'rafi] until he reaches the rank of Unveiling [Mukashafa], for it is the goal of the path of Witnessing [Mushahada].This [rank] is specific to the knowledge of the Spiritual Attributes. Through it, the Subtilization of the Dense [Taltif al-Kathif] is achieved. And by it, the Unveiled One realizes that the Worshipped Meaning is transcendent [Munazzah] in His Reality above sensory forms, as the mirror of his pure soul has become capable of reflecting the gleams of the High Lights emanated from the Active Intellect [al-Aql al-Fa'al] (the Seventh Universe), which is called the Holiness of Gnosis [Quds al-Ma'rifa].
