And He named them: Gardens, Springs, Angels, Veils, Lights, Curtains, and the Orphans of the Supreme Assembly.

So His Manifestation was in a Form, an Attribute, and a Likeness. And It [the Form] was the one subsisting1 in the Form of Existence; its outward is Light, Power, Radiance, Greatness, and Pride.

And from its Substance overflowed the Substances (Jawahir). And the Inwards and Outwards shone, and the Secrets and Consciences were illuminated. And Existence appeared, and the worship of the Worshipped was intended.

And its Inward (Batin) is the Universal Soul (Al-Nafs al-Kulliyya), stripped of instruments, known as the Pre-eternal (Al-Azaliyya). It is the Rank of the Gate connected to the Majesty of the Veil.

So the manifestation of the Soul in the two states, and its existence apparent to the two universes at one time, did not differ, nor did the Manifestation change. It appeared as a complete, just Manifestation from the Holy Spirit (Ruh al-Quds).

Footnotes

1Meaning the Anza'iyya Form (Al-Surah al-Anza'iyya):It is His Essence in reality—from the perspective of "He is He," it is not limited and does not change in ancient epochs or time. But It is "Other" from the perspective of Its manifestation to creatures, so It is not perceived totally.Imam Al-Sadiq (Exalted be His Might) said: "O Mufaddal: The High, the Unique, when He was manifest to His creation, began with Three Veils: He veiled His Essence with His Light, veiled His Light with His Radiance, and veiled His Radiance with His Shadows. And they are Lights, not bodies or humans."The Anza'iyya Form: Is the Essence of the Radiance and the Shadow. It is that which did not change in the ancient ages nor in what occurs of times and eras. So the outward of the Form... The Anza'iyya [Form] and its Inward is the Spiritual (Ma'nawiyya). That Form is the Prime Matter of Prime Matters (Hayula al-Hayulat), the Descender of Pre-eternities, and the Manifester of Miracles. Its Outward is bound to its Inward, as he said: "My Outward is Imamate and Vicegerency (Wasiyya), and my Inward is Unseen (Ghayb)."
