So if Intelligible Motion is established, and it is permissible for the Intellect to connect with it due to what it deserved of the name of "Formation"; And since Motion is among the attributes that belong only to a Substance (Jawhar):

It is permissible to affirm what we presented regarding the Moving Substance being the Simple Soul. And the Soul is the carrier of the Intellect.

And the Intellect is that by which things are perceived. And the Soul is that by which one has the Power to perceive.

So Perception is an attribute of the Intellect; while Perception and Power are attributes of the Soul. Thus, the Soul contains two attributes—I mean Perception and Power—while the Intellect does not contain them both together.1

Because the Soul, which is the bearer of the Intellect, is [both] Sensory (Mahsusa) and Intelligible (Ma'qula).

Footnotes

1Perception and Power are attributes of the Soul:We see the Creator manifested by the Radiant Attribute (Sifa Diya'iyya) which applies to the Gate (Bab)—after sanctifying the Essence from it.Power is among the attributes of the Gate, because he is the Center of Lights and the Element ('Unsur) of all originated things, the world of Earth, the Heavens, and what is between them. The "Mim" (Name/Intellect): Is the Attribute of Knowledge. The "Sin" (Gate/Soul): Is the Attribute of Power.Commentary on "Perception"):Perception (Idrak) does not always mean Encompassment (Ihata); it has other meanings inferred from the context. It may mean Vision. It may mean Knowledge (via causes and the Intellect). It may mean Gnosis (Ma'rifa - via the mediation of the sensory), which is an attribute of the Soul.It may mean knowing the external world via the senses. It may mean "Catching up" to a thing, as in saying: "When [did you arrive] before me? I caught up (Adraktuhu) after an hour."
