The Incident of Al-Ma'mun's soldiers attacking our Master Al-Jawad, may his glory be exalted
After a long Hadith narrated by the wife of our Master Muhammad Al-Jawad, may his glory be exalted, she says: "I entered upon my father and told him the news. He was drunk and senseless. He said: 'O servant, bring me the sword.' It was brought to him, and he mounted and said: 'By Allah, I will kill him!' When I saw that, I said: 'Indeed, to Allah we belong and to Him we shall return.' What have I done to myself and my husband? And I started hitting my face. My father entered upon him and continued to strike him with the sword until he cut him to pieces. Then he came out from him, and I fled out behind him. I did not sleep that night. When the day was high, I went to my father and said: 'Do you know what you did last night?' He said: 'What did I do?' I said: 'You killed the son of Al-Rida!' His eyes flashed, and he fainted. Then he recovered after a while and said: 'What are you saying?' I said: 'Yes, by Allah, O my father, you entered upon him and kept striking him with the sword until you killed him.' He was greatly disturbed by that and said: 'Bring me Yasir the servant.' Yasir came out while I was hitting my face. No sooner had Yasir returned than he said: 'Good tidings, Amir Al-Mouminine!' He said: 'Good tidings to you, what do you have?' Yasir said: 'I entered upon him, and behold, he is sitting, wearing a shirt and a cover, and he is brushing his teeth!'"1
It is him, none other than him. Glory be to the One who has not departed from His Essence, even though He appeared to His witnesses. They saw him once as Al-Rida, and they saw him once as Al-Jawad, and we see that he is him, Ali, glory be to Him, none other than Him.
The Attack of Al-Mansur's soldiers, may Allah curse him, on our Master Al-Sadiq, may his glory be exalted
From Abdul-A'la bin A'yan, who said: Murazim said: "The Caliph, Abu Ja'far, sent me, and he was with me, to Abi Abdullah, may his glory be exalted, while he was in Al-Hira, to kill him. We entered upon him in his awning at night, and we fulfilled our need from him and from his son Isma'il. Then we returned to him and said: 'We have finished what you commanded us to do.' He said: 'The next morning, we found him sitting in his awning, and we remained bewildered!'"2
