Then, may his glory be exalted, he said: "Woe to you, O cousin, who will ride to me tonight for a service at the eighth hour of the night, when the drinking and merriment have reached that point. He will express his longing for Umm Al-Fadl, then he will ride and enter to me, and he will head to his daughter Umm Al-Fadl, whom he had promised that she would sleep in the certain chamber, after my place of sleep. When he enters my house, he will turn to her. The servants' duty is to enter my place of sleep and say: 'Indeed, our Master Al-Ma'mun ordered us.' They will draw their swords and swear that they must kill him. Where will he escape from us? They will look at me, and this will be their slogan. They will place their swords on my bed and do what his treacherous attacker did to my father. But that will not harm me, and their hands will not reach me. And it will be imagined by them that it is a true action, but it is false. And they will leave with their clothes stained, their swords dripping with false blood. And they will enter upon Al-Ma'mun while he is with his daughter in my house, and he will say: 'What news do you have...?' So they will show him their swords dripping with blood, and their clothes and hands stained with blood. Then Umm Al-Fadl will say: 'Where did you kill him...?' They will say to her: 'In his place of sleep.' Then she will say to them: 'What is the sign of his place of sleep...?' So they will describe it to her."1
From Yazdad the Christian Physician, who said: "I met him (Our Master Al-Hadi, may his glory be exalted) a few days ago, and he was on a dark horse, wearing black clothes and a black turban, and he was dark-skinned. When I saw him, I stopped, out of reverence for him. No, by the truth of the Messiah, I did not utter it to anyone, but I said to myself: 'Black clothes, and a black mount, and a black man, blackness within blackness.' When he reached me and looked intently, he said: 'Your heart is darker than the blackness in blackness in blackness that your eyes see.'"2
Your heart is dark, and this is its reality. For sight is not with the eyes, but with the hearts, and as our Master Amir Al-Mouminine, may his glory be exalted, said: "The hearts saw Him with the realities of faith, and the sights did not see Him with the observation of vision."
