Our Master Al-Sadiq, may his glory be exalted, said: "O Furat, the people looked at us with the eyes of falsehood and similitude, and you looked at us with the eye of reality. I have not departed from my essence, even if I appeared to my witnesses. And I am Allah, the Exalted, the Great, the one stripped bare, the thick-bellied, I turn the hearts and eyes as I will. About me, My Name and My Veil is mentioned in His revealed Book: {And We will turn their hearts and their eyes as they did not believe in it the first time, and We will leave them in their transgression, wandering blindly.}"1

We begin the discussion on this clear verse for whoever seeks knowledge of the Imam's manifestation. The verse indicates that the turning (of perception) is in the eyes and hearts of the beholders, and not in the Imam, may his glory be exalted. However, the creation denied, just as they denied the first time, hence they deserved to remain in their transgression, wandering blindly.

Here, the speaker is my Master the Meaning, Amir Al-Mouminine, may his glory be exalted, after he appeared in the image of his name in a similitude of appearance. He clarified that the creation looked at these images as limited, confined to outlines and forms, and did not grasp the reality of their knowledge, which is that they are an illusion in their eyes and a familiarity for them. Furthermore, even the number of the verse holds a meaning for one who can see (110).

The Scholar, may his glory be exalted, said: "The one who is ignorant of it will not understand it, and the one who knows it will understand it. The ignorant has no argument, as the proofs of righteousness have been made clear to him from Allah." The questioner asked: "What is this proof?" The Scholar said: "A test, a similitude, and a plot that suggests the enemy has control over his will, but this is something that does not happen and is not permissible to happen. He only did that to see whether they would obey or disobey. So, whoever does good will see it, and whoever does evil will see it. And your Lord is not unjust to people, but people are unjust to themselves."2
