So pay attention, may God grant you success! The Imam did not negate the saying of Hisham ibn al-Hakam here that He is a "luminous, eternally self-sufficient Body." Rather, he completed his saying and placed more limits on the Gnosis.
From Muhammad ibn Hakim, he said: I described to Abu Ibrahim, our Master al-Kazim (may his glory be exalted), the saying of Hisham al-Jawaliqi, and I related to him the saying of Hisham ibn al-Hakam: "That He is a body." So he said: "Indeed, nothing resembles God. What obscenity or indecency is greater than the saying of one who describes the Creator of things with a body, or an image, or a form, or a definition, or limbs?!1
Exalted is God above that, greatly." Yes, by God! Whoever says that "something" resembles God, this is the essence of indecency and the foundation of obscenity.
From Yunus, he said: I heard a man from the "Tayyarah" narrating to our Master Abu al-Hasan al-Rida (may his glory be exalted) from Yunus ibn Zabyan (upon him is peace) that he said: "I was in the midst of Tawaf (circumambulation) one night when suddenly there was a call from above my head: 'O Yunus, I am God, there is no god but Me, so worship Me and establish prayer for My remembrance.' I raised my head, and behold, it was Abu al-Hasan!"
So Abu al-Hasan (may his glory be exalted) became angry, with an anger he could not control. Then he said to the man: "Get out from my presence, may God curse you, and curse the one who told you, and curse Yunus ibn Zabyan a thousand curses, followed by a thousand curses, each curse of which will deliver you to the bottom of Hellfire! I bear witness that no one called him except a devil. Verily, Yunus is with Abu al-Khattab in the severest torment, bound together, and their companions [are bound] to that devil, with Pharaoh and the family of Pharaoh in the severest torment. I heard that from my father."
