The Philosopher and Gnostic Al-Makzun:

I did not weep for the slain of Al-Tufuf, even if

Others wept for him in grief and compassion.

For he is the accursed Sihaki, and too majestic is our Master

Al-Husayn for annihilation to befall him.

The eternity of mysteries has not lightened,

That he is the Meaning, Exalted above a place, even if he drew near.

As for the Day of Ashura, for me, by the One who

Spread the earth, it is the day of my Eid and joy.

The most glorious cup, and the most cursed is he who became

In it a victim of the Mashrafiyah swords and spears.

And if others shunned Al-Zubayr out of their ignorance—utterly!

Al-Zubayr, to me, is the most noble acquisition.

And upon Ibn Muljam the Martyr is my greeting;

Indeed, he has become forever favored, a doer of good.

He did not deviate from the path of the Way, nor did he err

A single day, nor did he slacken from the command of his Creator.

And I am the Wali for whoever takes Haydar as Wali,

And an enemy to whoever is hostile to him from the people of adultery.

This is the belief of one who has become, by his certainty,

Supported, and by his debt, deduced.

And from the poems of Abu Nuwas:

The Day of Al-Tufuf, and what a hateful day,

When the Creator met the enemies.

Too majestic is the Pre-eternal for death and ruin,

And killing, humiliation, and affliction.

Rather, it was confused upon their eyes,

Until they saw him dyed in blood.

The noble Sheikh Hanzala, the ransom, succeeded [in attaining]

The best of creation, the Master of Martyrs.
