With Him, nor the Hearing, the Seeing.

No, nor is the Living like the one who became dead;

No, nor is the shade with Him like the scorching heat.

No, nor is the night preceding the day;

No, nor is the darkness of gloom like treasures.

So seek, O Shī‘ah of Al-Husayn, Husayn!

And know him by his famous Light.

Seek a ladder and fly to the Truth,

And roam in the essence of abundant knowledge.

Ascend to the Veil, the Veil of Allah,

Possessor of the Throne and the Ethereal Station.

Knock on the door of every knowledge and understanding,

Then dive to the bottom of the seas.

Ride the terror and tread every rugged path,

Sift the earth and bore into the rocks.

That you may attain the knowledge by which Allah has decreed

The truth of his destined worth.

And be chicks of Light that guided one another

Under the shade of the Veil with glad tidings.

And be among the callers to Him, eloquent

With the speech of abundant knowledge.

Reciting the Torah, the Scrolls, and the Gospel

Together, and the decisive verses of the Psalms.

And narrating from the Qur’an stories,

Wonders of its spread parchment.

Whenever they dropped it or [changed] its bucket,

And set up for it statues of falsehood,

And misled the servants by it through Similitude

Of the Truth in the ancient times.

And [so] you will know Al-Husayn,

That he is the Owner of Origination and Creation.

A Witness, Absent, Silent, Speaking,

Going, Returning, the scheme of the return.

Present in person among you, manifest in power,
