Some Poems of the Unitarians about Al-Husayn and Karbala
Our Master Al-Khasibi (may Allah brighten his face) said these verses:
And a weeper weeps over his Lord
I am not, by the praise of Allah, of his group.
And whenever a deficiency laments for him
Over him who was negligent concerning His Side,
He weeps over the slain in Karbalā’
May the Merciful not lighten his distress.
Apologizing for his evil deeds
And his excuse is greater than his sin.
I said to him: Do not weep for that One
Whom the enemies do not aspire to overcome.
They thought thoughts, all of which are false:
Who was it that killed him and who robbed him?
And likewise Jesus, his matter occurred [this way]
And what the people saw of his crucifixion.
It was neither killing nor a crucifixion,
But he was made to resemble [another] in his sticking [to the cross].
Killing and crucifixion are upon a criminal
Who is prominent, oh misery, in his war.
If you are ignorant, woe to you, of his person:
Then he came from Nufayl and he who sticked him together,
And from Ṣihāk, then she who bowed down,
The wife of Khaṭṭāb, and he who succeeded him.
And his name is Iblis, no other,
In the past time and in his epochs.
So be generous, O my brothers, in cursing him
With the generosity of Al-Khasibi in reviling him.
