The comparison is certainly valid, but the subtle lesson from the first report is that the weeping and mourning of the people is for what they were negligent about regarding the Door of Allah.
Our Master Al-Ḥusayn (may his glory be exalted) said: "My God, I learned through the difference in effects and the changes of stages that Your will for me is that You should be introduced to me in everything, so that I may not be ignorant of You in anything."1
These changes, O believer, and the effects and stages, are the Straight path of the seeker who strives toward his Lord and is desirous of His love.
Our Master Zayn Al-‘Ābidīn (may his glory be exalted) said: "From negligence (taqṣīr) one ascends to delegation (tafwīḍ). From delegation one ascends to Unitarianism (tawḥīd), and that is the path (maḥajjah) for the seeker."2
Shaykh Al-Dīn (peace be upon him) said:
O Khaṣībī, rise above those who claim Shī‘ism
For he will soon return to ‘Alī."
