My believing brother, notice the surprise and witness the tragedy when the vengeance for Al-Ḥusayn (may his glory be exalted) is the vengeance for the example. At that time, by Allah, the fire of evil and sparks will rage against our Master, the Avenger, and the Negligent will line up as an mobilized army and call out on the Day of the Great Battle: "Woe to you, O son of Fāṭimah! You have brought about a tragedy and afflicted us with a disaster. We have not seen an example other than Abu Al-Khaṭṭāb and a reality other than Al-Ajda‘. Do you seek vengeance for him and seek to spread his methodology and his curriculum upon us?!" "You have come with a terrible thing, and you have revealed a shocking matter..."
There are some indications on this subject that our Master Abu Al-Khaṭṭāb (form him is peace) disappeared on the tenth of Muḥarram with over seventy of his companions who were killed as martyrs in Kūfah...
Muḥammad ibn Sinān (peace be upon him) said: I asked our Master Al-Ṣādiq (may his glory be exalted) about the day on which Abū Al-Khaṭṭāb (form him is peace) declared the call (da‘wah) in the Abode of Sustenance and was killed. He said: "That is a great and serious day with Allah, Exalted and Almighty. It is incumbent upon the believers to share with their brothers and to converse about the remembrance of Allah and the manifestation of the oneness of Allah. It is Monday, the tenth of Muḥarram. It is incumbent upon the believers to spend their day in the oneness of Allah, His remembrance, and praying for Abū Al-Khaṭṭāb and his companions (peace and mercy be upon them)."1
This is agreed upon in the books of the Unitarians. A sad tradition is mentioned in the Al-Faḥṣ Wa-Al-Baḥth (Book of Examination and Research), which shows us the loyalty of the brothers who were around my Master Abu Al-Khaṭṭāb, for they were the best example of companions, who sacrificed their lives for their Master, lying slain in the alleys of Kūfah, thirsty...
When the killing of Abū Al-Khaṭṭāb and his companions occurred, a group of believers went out with water to give drink to one of them who was near death among the slain, seeking water for life. One of them reached one of his brothers, who was dying among the slain, crying out for water. He handed him the drink, and his throat was dry from the severity of the thirst. When it settled in his hand, and there was a brother next to him, he heard his moan and said to the server: "Take the waterskin to my brother and give him a drink, for he is weaker than me." The server continued to approach one of them after another, and each one said the same thing, each preferring his brother over himself, until he reached the ninth of them, and found that he had passed away. He returned to the preceding ones and found that they too had passed away, and none of them had drunk due to their preference for each other (may the prayers of Allah be upon them all).2
