This is the supplication of my Mistress (may her glory be exalted) against the Negligent, that the tear should not cease, and the wailing should not calm among them. These mourning processions and self-flagellation are nothing but her remaining words among them, generation after generation. May Allah not lighten for them the distress of what they committed and the sin they perpetrated by thinking in their ignorance that they could overcome the Judge of all Judges and kill the King of the Day of Judgment.

She said (may her glory be exalted) "Your likeness is that of her who undid her yarn after she had strengthened it, taking your oaths as [a means of] deceit between you," a clear indication of their allegiance to the Household (may their glory be exalted) and their claim of love and support falsely and with slander. "Do you weep! Yes, by Allah, weep much and laugh little." Yes, my Mistress, they weep on every feast and joy, and they beat their chests and scratch their faces and backs, atoning for what they committed and seeking forgiveness for what they perpetrated.

And a weeper weeps over his Lord

I am not, by the praise of Allah, of his group.

whenever a deficiency laments for him

Over him who was negligent concerning His Side,

He weeps over the slain in Karbalā’

May the Merciful not lighten his distress.

Apologizing for his evil deeds

And his excuse is greater than his sin.
