"Then the Lord said to Moses, 'Gather to Me seventy men of the elders of Israel, whom you know to be the elders of the people and officers over them; bring them to the tabernacle of meeting, and let them stand there with you.'"1
"Then I will come down and talk with you there. I will take of the Spirit that is upon you and will put the same upon them; and they shall bear the burden of the people with you, so that you shall not bear it yourself alone."2
"Then you shall say to the people, 'Consecrate yourselves for tomorrow, and you shall eat meat; for you have wept in the hearing of the Lord, saying, "Who will give us meat to eat? For it was well with us in Egypt." Therefore, the Lord will give you meat, and you shall eat."3
"You shall eat not one day, nor two days, nor five days, nor ten days, nor twenty days,"4
"But for a whole month, until it comes out of your nostrils and becomes loathsome to you, because you have rejected the Lord who is among you, and have wept before Him, saying, 'Why did we ever come up out of Egypt?'"5
Because you rejected the Lord who is before you!!!
This is exactly the condition of the Negligent (al-Muqaṣṣirah) among the Shī‘ah; they are the Children of Israel of this time, to whom Allah gave the kingdom of prophethood, meaning the Lord appeared among them and manifested His knowledge and religion to them. But they rebelled against His command, fought Him, and broke the covenants, just as their ancestors did before them. They thus deserved deception and scheming as a consequence of their denial, rejection, and abandonment of the God who appeared among them... just as those before them deserved the deception that Allah Almighty mentioned in His Book as befalling the previous nations. This nation is like the one before it.
Know that we do not deny what has been narrated from the Family of Muḥammad regarding the event of Karbalā’, the killing, and the encouragement of weeping and self-flagellation. Rather, we say that it is a deception (Talbīs) as a retribution for their deeds. This concept exists in the narrations of the People of the House (Ahl al-Bayt).
