the annihilation of Your enemy, Your glad tidings to Your creation, and Your appearance to reward and extract the people of Your elite who are hoping in You, desiring You, waiting for You, and looking towards where Your existence is. O Allah, my Master, encompass me and all my believing brothers with what I have asked, and be generous to me and them with what I have not asked and what I have not been guided to ask of Your abundant giving, Your perfect fulfillment, Your lasting safety, and Your ample blessing, for which the praise of the praisers falls short and the thanks of the thankful fails. For You are the People of Grace and Beneficence.'"
Then he said: "O assembly of believers, have you comprehended what you heard from my address and memorized what I revealed to you of my speech? [It is] a Day in which Allah is your companion, and in it, He is your guest. So slaughter for Him what you can, celebrate for Him as you are able, evaluate for Him in it what is possible for you, gather in it with your brothers, adorn your food and drink, and gift one another in it your souls and your wealth. Be generous in it to your dependents, your clan, and your relatives, and draw nearby that to your Master. For He will increase your reward and recompense, perfect for you your religion and your world, sit with you upon your bedding, and place His hand in the vessels of your food, thereby providing you with blessings as long as you are obedient to Him, accepting of Him, and complying with His command."
Then my Master turned to me and the group and said: "Are you complying with what I commanded and desirous of what I mentioned?" I said, and the group said: "Yes, O our Master! We are hearing, obedient, answering, hastening. We will go out, offer, slaughter, celebrate, connect, do good, and perform all that You have commanded and presented. You have bestowed upon us the knowledge of what we did not know, and inspired us with a desire by which You guided us to our salvation and deliverance, since Your command is irrevocable, and Your obligation and judgment are just." My Master said: "This is a day; there will be from you in other than this day, if you have the likes of it, [the obligation to] be as I commanded and do as I did. Bring near in it those whom you love of your confidants, just as your Master brought you near in it, to complete for you what you were promised. As for today, Ja'far bin Muhammad is more worthy of you, more gathering of your unity, and swifter to accept your offering; so you are by that higher in degree and loftier in station."
