Mahan al-Abuli (peace be upon him) said, on the authority of Jaber bin Yazid al-Ju'fi (peace comes from him), who said:

I went early on the Day of Adha (Sacrifice) to my Master and Lord Ja'far bin Muhammad (may his glory be exalted) to congratulate him on it. When he permitted me to enter, I went in to him and found with him everyone in Kufa who was loyal to him with the reality of Gnosis (Ma'rifa). When he saw me, he said to me: "O Jaber, what delayed you until this time? It was incumbent upon you to be the first forerunner!" I said: "O my Master, I did not know of the gathering of those present. Had I known, I would have come early in the darkness of dawn!" Then he permitted me to sit, so I sat. My Master began speaking to us, explaining to us the virtues of that Day, what is incumbent upon every believer during it, what acts are required of him, and what reward he has if he fulfills what is upon him.

Then he said: "O assembly of people, those of the believers present here. This is a day in which Allah has made clear your merit, manifested your victory, and destroyed your enemy by your hands. In it, He manifests to you and permits for you what He had prohibited for you, and in it, He grants you ownership over the necks of your opponents, their blood, their wealth, their offspring, and their wives. So you shed their blood, enslave them, and the Abode becomes purely yours as it was purely yours before. That is because it is the Day of Unveiling (Kashf); Allah unveils in it His command, reveals in it His Return (Raj'a), and strikes in it His strike (Karra) as He promised you and advanced it to you. He, the Exalted Speaker, said: {Then We gave back to you a return victory over them. We aided you with wealth and children and made you the most numerous in manpower.} He, the Exalted, said: {And He caused you to inherit their land and their homes, and a land you have not trodden. And ever is Allah, over all things, competent.} So you, by Allah, O Jaber, are its people; to you is this promise made, and among you is this explanation. So thank Allah for what He has bestowed upon you, for selecting you for it, and creating you upon it."

Then he said: "O assembly of believers, Allah (Mighty and Majestic) has decreed upon every knowing believer to offer an offering (Qurban) to Allah in it, slaughtering it and spilling its blood upon the face of the earth. Then he shall eat its meat, break its bone, and crush its belly. He should say upon doing so and while acting upon it:
