By God, he does not know you, O my Mawla! And the one who will be killed is not known. His state is like the state of the deficient group who think you were killed.
But we ask: How could Al-Husayn, may his glory be exalted, in such a place laugh?
'How could He, when moments later, the women and children would be taken captive, and so on?'
We will gather these images together so that it is complete before the eyes of the believers that the Mawali, may their glory be exalted, laughed at what happened in Karbala.
Kathir ibn Shihab Al-Harithi said: While we were sitting with Amir Al-Mouminine in the courtyards, Al-Husayn approached Him. 'Ali laughed a laughter' until his molar teeth appeared. Then he said: 'God mentioned a people and said: {The heaven and earth did not weep over them, nor were they granted respite}. By Him who split the grain and created the soul, they will certainly kill this one, and the heaven and earth will surely weep over Him.'1
What is the occasion for laughter, O my Mawla, O Amir Al-Mouminine?
There is no god but You, my Lord and my Master. The Master Amir Al-Mouminine, may their glory be exalted, did not laugh in that place except to clarify the reality of the deceit and confusion in the matter of Karbala. The known in the apparent narratives is weeping, but here there is laughter. Compare this report with the report of Al-Haft when my Mawla Al-Sadiq, may their glory be exalted, laughed when He heard the mention of Al-Husayn's killing from Al-Mufaddal. Exalted is my Lord above killing and punishment.
Our Mawlana Al-Sadiq, may their glory be exalted, said to Al-Mufaddal, peace comes from him: 'Indeed, that ram with which Al-Husayn was ransomed was the Adlam of Quraysh, who is the Second, and on that day he was in the form of a ram, so he was brought and slaughtered. Have you not seen its horns hanging in the Kaaba?' I said: 'Yes.' He said: 'Those are the horns of that ram with which Al-Husayn was ransomed.' Then He laughed until His molar teeth appeared. I asked: 'My Master, what made you laugh?' He said: 'When people gather at the season in Mecca, they desire to look at it, astonished that it is from Paradise. But we, by my life and by God, stand to look at it, astonished that they are the horns of the Adlam! So people are astonished by one thing, and we are astonished by something contrary to that.'2
