I asked my Mawla: 'Did Al-Husayn's companions see Gabriel?' He said: 'Yes, and they saw Michael and Israfil, and I see them, and you see them too.' I asked: 'My Master and Mawla, do I see Gabriel?' He said: 'Yes.' I asked: 'Today?' He said: 'Yes.' I asked: 'And where did I see him?' He said: 'In this house of mine.' I asked: 'And at what time?' He said: 'At this very moment. Would you like to see him talk to you?' I said: 'Yes, by God, O my Master!' He said: 'He is Abu Al-Khattab, so speak to him.'
I said: 'O Abu Al-Khattab, are you Gabriel?' He said: 'By God, I am Gabriel, and by God. I am the one whom Al-Husayn sent to the cursed Umar. I am the one who spoke to him. I am the one who cast him and all his companions down into the fire. I am the one in charge of their torment by His command, and I am the companion of the First Adam. He commanded me, so I shouted a shout at the creation, their joints were severed, and chains and shackles bound them. I am the companion of Noah's call when he called his people to the worship of God and His Oneness, but they did not affirm or believe, so I drowned them with the flood. I am the companion of Abraham when they threw him into the fire, and by God, I was with him, and the heat of the fire did not touch me or him, nor the pain of the torment. By God, I am the companion with Daniel, the Ark (Tabut), and the Scrolls (Suhuf), and by God, I wrote them with my hand. I never, ever doubt, nor will I doubt the Lordship of the High, the All-Knowing. I am the companion of Moses, Jesus, and Muhammad, I am Abu Al-Khattab, I am Abu Al-Tayyibat, and I am Salsal. By God, I shouted a shout at the people of Al-Mu'tafikah (Lot's people), and I destroyed them. I am before every Imam in every era in different forms and different names. I will be with the Riser (Al-Qa'im) before Him, uprooting the wrongdoers with His sword. He commands me and I obey Him, I give life and cause death, and I provide sustenance by the command of my Lord.'
Then two men whom I did not recognize approached. Abu Al-Khattab asked: 'Do you know these two men?' I said: 'No.' He said: 'This is Michael, and this is Israfil. One of them was in the East, and the other was in the West.' I asked: 'What are they doing?' He said: 'My Imam and your Imam sent them for a need.' I asked: 'Were they with you, O Abu Al-Khattab, during the time of the Messenger of God and during the time of Amir Al-Mouminine?' He said: 'Yes, and during the time of Jesus, Moses, and Abraham, and before that, they were during the time of Adam.' I said: 'Great is my Lord, and magnificent is His affair!'
