A bow with its arrow was brought to him. He said: 'I bear you witness that I am innocent of what Ali ibn Abi Talib was upon and what Al-Husayn is upon.' Then he shot his arrow and said: 'O God, I am the first to shoot an arrow into the army of the sorcerer!' He commanded the people to prepare for battle.

Two huge Abyssinians, whose eyes were like blazing embers, were the first of his scouts to emerge toward Al-Husayn. When Al-Husayn looked at them, He said: 'O Gabriel, bring me the two men in their bodies of transformation.' Gabriel extended his hand and seized them by their backs until he brought them before Al-Husayn. Behold, they were two black rams. Al-Husayn shouted at them and said: 'Return to what you are known for.' Behold, they were two black, cursed men, each with an iron spike in his brain, and the iron spike was entering the brain of each of them and exiting his rear.

Al-Husayn said: 'O Gabriel, who are these two?' He replied: 'O my Mawla, these are Sa'd and Mu'awiyah.' He said: 'Come close to Me.' They approached Him. He said: 'How did you find My vengeance and My torment in your state of transformation?' They said: 'Our God and Master, we found the most severe torment. So, remove us from the transformation into human bodies, for we have recognized the path of truth, so have mercy on us with a mercy from You, O Most Merciful of the merciful!' He said: 'May God have no mercy on you! This is for you. I will return you for a thousand years in this state of transformation, in one body after another, renewing My punishment and My torment upon you as a recompense for what you earned!' They pleaded: 'Pardon, forgive us!' He said: 'May God not forgive or have mercy on you! My mercy and My pardon are for My friends and My chosen ones, and My vengeance, My might, and My punishment are upon My enemies among the wrongdoers!' Then He shouted at them, and they sank into the earth.

Al-Mufaddal asked: 'O my Mawla, where did they go?' He said: 'They returned to their companions to fight Al-Husayn.' I asked: 'O my Mawla, was there anyone of the believing Unitarians with Al-Husayn that day?' He said: 'There was one knowing, Unitarian believer with Him: Abu Al-Khattab, peace comes from him, was present with Him.' I said: 'Don't you hear, O Abu Al-Khattab, what my Mawla is saying?' He said: 'Yes, I was with Him.' Al-Mufaddal was astonished. He said: 'Are you astonished, O Mufaddal?' I said: 'Yes, by God!' He said: 'And I was with Amir Al-Mouminine.' I said: 'Glory be to God!'

Then he returned to his narrative. He said: When the armies surrounded Al-Husayn, He called out: 'O Gabriel, O Michael, and O Israfil!' They answered: 'Here we are, O our Lord and our Master!' He said: 'Lift Me into the air three times, for I am High!' So Al-Husayn ascended, and Gabriel ascended with Him. Then He recited: 'They will not believe until they see the painful punishment'. Then He seized them with the seizure of the Mighty, the Powerful.
