Section Three: Narrations of the Esoteric Event of Karbala

In this section, we will mention some narrations of the esoteric "Battle of Karbala" from several books.

The first narration is from the book Al-Saffiniyyāt by the Eminent Shaykh Al-Jīlī, may Allah the Exalted have mercy on him, and the same is found in the book Al-Tajrīd by Shaykh Al-Jīlī, may Allah the Exalted have mercy on him, with some slight differences in the wording of the phrases, but without changing the meaning.

In the book Al-Saffiniyyāt, the following report is conveyed:

In it, Our Master Amir Al-Mouminine shows Ammar bin Yasir how the killing and occultation (concealment) of Al-Hussein will be in Karbala. It was narrated by the trustworthy Shaykh Abu Al-Hussein Muhammad bin Ali Al-Jilli, may Allah sanctify his soul, who said: My Shaykh Abu Abdullah Al-Hussein bin Hamdan Al-Khusaybi, may the Exalted Allah honor his station, narrated to me. He said: Ja'far bin Muhammad bin Malik Al-Kufi narrated to me, from Muhammad bin Yazid, from Umar bin Al-Hamdani, from Al-Mukhawwal bin Ibrahim, from Ja'far bin Muhammad Al-Qasir, from Younus bin Zabyan, who raised it from Ammar bin Yasir, upon them be peace, who said: "While we were traveling with Our Master Amir Al-Mouminine, may his glory be exalted, to Siffin, and we took the route of Al-Tufūf, when we reached the land of Karbala, he stopped there and then said: 'O Ammar, do you know this place?' I said: 'No, by Allah, O my Master, but I heard that it is called the Land of Springs (Arḍ Al-'Uyūn).' He said: 'It is truly the Land of Springs, but which springs do you mean?' I said: 'The springs of dates.' He said: 'They have added a description to the springs other than what they truly are. It is, by Allah, the Springs.' Then he said: 'Do you know where you are standing in it?' I said: 'No, my Master!' He said: 'O Ammar, look closely, for you will recognize it.' I looked closely, and behold, I was standing at the place from which the Prophet, may his glory be exalted, ascended to the heavens on the Night of the Ascension (Mi'raj). I turned to my right, and behold, Al-Hussein was standing. He said: 'O Ammar, this is the place from which he ascended, and in it, he will ascend.' I said: 'O my Master, will Al-Hussein ascend from this place?' He said: 'Yes, O Ammar, look at him.' I looked at him, and behold, he was the Messenger of Allah, may his glory be exalted.
