Section Two: Thirst and Iron Touch Do Not Affect Al-Hussein

From Muhammad bin Sinan, peace be upon him, Our Master Al-Rida was asked about Al-Hussein, may their glories be exalted, and that he was killed thirsty, he said: "Silence! Where did you get that from? Allah the Exalted sent down four great angels to him, and they said to him: 'Allah and His Messenger greet you and say: Choose! If you wish, you may choose the world and everything in it, and We will empower you over every enemy of yours, or elevation to Us.' Al-Hussein, may his glory be exalted, said: 'Upon Allah and His Messenger be peace. Rather, elevation to Him.' They gave him a drink of water, and he drank it. They said to him: 'Know that you will never be thirsty after this, ever.'"1

Silence, O ones who fall short! Where did you get this from, that Al-Hussein was killed thirsty? May Allah disgrace ignorance and its followers. How can he be thirsty when he is the water for the water?

From Al-Mufaddal bin Umar, from him is peace, Our Master Abi Abdullah Al-Sadiq, may his glory be exalted, said: "When Al-Hussein, may their glories be exalted, and his companions were deprived of water, he called out among them: 'Whoever is thirsty, let him come.' His companions came to him one by one. He placed his thumb in the palm of each one, and the man kept drinking one after the other until they were all quenched. Some of them said to others: 'By Allah, I have drunk a drink that no one in the world has ever drunk.' When they fought Al-Hussein, and it was the third day, near sunset, Al-Hussein seated his men one by one, calling them by the names of their fathers, and each man answered, sitting around him. Then he summoned a dining cloth, fed them, ate with them from the food of Paradise, and gave them to drink from its drink." Then Our Master Abi Abdullah, may his glory be exalted, said: "By Allah, a number of the Kufans saw them, and He repeated it for them, had they but understood." He said: "Then he sent them, and each one of them returned to his land, then he came to Mount Radwa. No believer remains but comes to him, and he is on a bed of light, surrounded by Abraham, Moses, Jesus, and all the Prophets. Behind them are the believers, and behind them are the angels watching what Al-Hussein says."
