If you say: Did He not know of the obedient that he would obey, and of the disobedient that he would disobey?

The answer: We say He knew, but His knowledge regarding them is not a decree [Qada'] upon them of obedience and disobedience. Rather, He gave them the power and capacity [Istita'a] for action and omission [Tark], so that compulsion [Jabr] and coercion [Ikrah] would not be necessary [implied].

If you say: We see the creation differing in capacity regarding knowledge, provision, lifespan, and physical creation, and we do not see them in one adjustment [Ta'dil] and one system?

The answer: The adjustment [Ta'dil] only occurred between them in the beginning, while they were luminous figures [Ashkhas Nuriyya], before He created for them these fleshy, bloody bodies and repeated them in them through repetitions [Takrirat]. Thus, there attached to each one of them what he deserved of good and evil, wealth and poverty, health and sickness, knowledge and ignorance, and reward and punishment. And its explanation will come in the Chapter of Transmigration [Tanasukh], if Allah wills.
