It was only obligated upon them [meaning upon the creation] to know the Attributes of Createdness, because it is not within their capability to perceive the Attributes of Eternity.
Ja'far ibn Muhammad, may his might be mighty, said: "Whoever knows the loci of the Attribute has reached the resting place (qarar) of knowledge."
And Ishaq said in Kitab al-Sirat: "The reality of Tawhid (Unification) is singling out the Meaning (al-Ma'na) with Oneness, and purifying Him from His Names and His Attributes, because they are particulate (dharriyyah), created, and formed; He set them up to negate the attribute from Himself, when He manifested them to eyesight, in order to place the attribute of what He manifested upon an existing reality."
And that which He manifested of vision belongs to the loci of the Attribute.
From this is his saying: "He pointed to Himself by Himself from Himself."
Meaning: He pointed to Muhammad by Muhammad from Muhammad.
The interpretation of that: The loci of manifestations and their speech.
