The Answer: Verily, all that is beneath the Sphere of the Moon is made and composite, because they are bodies that manifest through the Will of Capacity (Irada al-Istita'a).
And the Capacity—its material is from nutrients, and the nutrients—their existence is from Nature. So all Composite Bodies are a thing from a thing, in which there is no difference, until it returns to Nature. Thus the statement concludes that Nature is the originator of these Composite Bodies and their "eternal" [principle], and a limit for them; and that it [Nature] is originated relative to the One who harmonized it, and He is the limit of Nature.
As for the bodies (Ajram) that are above the Sphere of the Moon, they are not of the act of Nature, for they do not decompose (tatahallal). And Nature is the origin of the Composite Bodies; they are composed from it, and they decompose back into it forever. And corruption (fasad) does not enter upon it [Nature], nor upon the Upper Bodies, because they are from the act of the Wise One (al-Hakim).
And I say also: Verily, the Spirits (Arwah) that govern the bodies of animals are simple (basita), not composite. And the proof of that is that the bodies are an instrument for them; they unite with them in a union of commixture, just as fire unites with the wick.
