And Al-Adawi narrated from Muhammad b. Sadaqa al-Anbari, from Al-Ridha—may his might be exalted—who said:
"We are the Veils of Allah. So if we bring forth the miracle, the Veils are removed from the Commander of the Faithful, may his might be exalted."
And by the chain of transmission from Al-Ridha—may his might be exalted—that he said:
"The first thing Allah tasked His servants with was that He said to them: 'Do not deny Me in whatever form I appear.' He said: Then He appeared in the likeness of their forms, and they denied Him."
And he narrated to me from Abdullah b. Idris, raising it to Al-Sadiq—may his might be exalted—that he said:
"Verily, Allah changes [others] but does not change [Himself], and He forms [images] but is not formed. The changing and the forming are only in the eyes of those looking at Him, the people of turbidity."
And from him, from Al-Adawi, raising it to Al-Sadiq—may his might be exalted—that he was asked about Iblis: Does he change and take a form for the creation?
