(Except Iblis, he was of the Jinn, so he departed from the command of his Lord).
{And the Jinn [here] are the believers, and it was through his denial that he transformed into darkness}1.
Abu al-Hasan b. Batita (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated in his book known as Al-Muqni that he [Iblis] asked Allah for respite, so He granted him respite until the Day of the Known Time, and that was a recompense for what preceded of his acknowledgement.
The proof of this is that it is inevitable for him, in every manifestation of a Dome [Qubbah], to appear in it with a Dome, ranks, and degrees; thus, he has a Gate [Bab] in disbelief, a Chief [Naqib] in disbelief, and a Noble [Najib] in disbelief.
And his capability which was with him remains with him; Allah did not strip him of it because he asked Him for respite and He answered him. Do you not see that Iblis has power which he manifests and by which he speaks to his tribe and companions?
