So, whoever among you desires to ascend in Gnosis (Ma'rifa) and enter the luminous heavens, let him adhere to this Monotheism (Tawhid) which I have clarified for you.

This is the pure Monotheism of Allah, as stated in the Wise Remembrance (the Qur’an), in His saying, the Exalted: "And Allah has said, 'Do not take for yourselves two deities. He is only one God'" 1, and His saying, the Exalted: "And do not say, 'Three'; desist—it is better for you. Indeed, Allah is but one God" 2, and His saying, the Exalted: "There is no private conversation three but He is the fourth of them, nor of five but He is the sixth of them— and no less than that and no more except that He is with them wherever they are"3. For He is One, Individual, Eternal Besought; number does not apply to Him, nor is He partitioned, nor branched out, nor does He shift or transform from state to state, nor does He change from His Being even if He manifests to the eyes. He is the Most High, the Most Great. Number and partitioning only apply to His determined self (Nafsuhu al-Muhaddada), which is the Name manifest in five persons, and they are the five

Shadows (al-Ashbah): "Muhammad, Fatir, al-Hasan, alHusayn, and al-Muhsin the Hidden."
