Had you seen Kindness (Al-Ma’ruf) as a man, you would have seen a handsome man who delights the onlookers and surpasses all beings; and had you seen Stinginess (Al-Bukhl) as a man, you would have seen him as an ugly, deformed figure from whom hearts recoil and eyes turn away.

O people, whosoever is generous shall lead, and whosoever is stingy shall be abased. Verily, the most pardoning of people is he who forgives when he is capable, the most generous of them is he who gives without being asked, and the most connected of them is he who maintains ties with those who severed them. He whose tillage is not wholesome, his plant shall not flourish; branches [only] bear fruit and grow through their roots. Allah is the Protector of the righteous, and our Lord is the One sought for help against what you describe; there is no power nor might except by Allah, the High, the Great.

The Adab of Ibn Abd al-Muttalib, Ja'far ibn Muhammad ibn al-Mufaddal—peace be upon their mention—is completed. It is a book of great status and noble standing. May Allah bless our Master Muhammad and his good and pure Family, and guide us to the jurisprudence and sciences contained within it, by the right of the Reviver of Sciences and the spreader of his grace and manners, and for all the believers. Have mercy upon us and upon them by Your mercy, O Most Merciful of those who show mercy. Amen.
