Al-Adha: the person of the Riser (Al-Qa’im) and his manifestation, and he is the Veil (Al-Hijab) with the sword and the shedding of blood. The Ghusl during both is the affirmation of Power (Al-Qudra) for them both, as they are one, and he is a single Essence (Jawhara). Seeking needs is purification (Al-Tasfiya), and following the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah—Exalted be His mention—is the calling unto Allah openly.
The night prayer (Qiyam al-Layl) is health for the body, the pleasure of the Lord , adherence to the character of the Prophets, the gnosis of Allah—Glory be to Him—during the state of the Opposite (Dawlat al-Didd), the gnosis of
The Friend (Al-Wali); because the blameworthy, murky night is the Opposite (Al-Didd), and through the gnosis of Allah, the believer seeks the degree of the Prophets.
In the Hadith: "You must observe the night prayer, for it was the habit of the righteous before you, a means of proximity to your Lord, an expiation for your misdeeds, a deterrent from sin, and a repellent of disease from the body."
It has been narrated that the mother of Solomon, son of David—peace be upon them both—said to him: "O my son, do not sleep through the night, for he who sleeps through the night shall arrive on the Day of Resurrection bankrupt of good deeds." And Allah the Exalted inspired David— Exalted be His mention: "O David, he who claims My love lies, for when the night enshrouds him, he sleeps and neglects Me."
