Washing the head with marsh-mallow (al-Khatmi) removes ruin—and it was said: filth—and expels impurities. Meaning: the Gnosis of Muhammad—Majestic is his mention—through Luminosity (al-Nuraniyya) removes these wretched "Houses" (bodies/reincarnations) and expels doubt. Rinsing the mouth and sniffing water into the nose (al-Istinshaq) are a Sunnah for the mouth and the nose .

Rinsing the mouth (Al-Madmadah) refers to Muhammad ibn al-Hanafiyya, and the nose refers to Qanbar. Muhammad ibn al-Hanafiyya urges the believers to seek gnosis (Ma'rifa) and what is required of them regarding the rights of their brothers until they reach purification (AlTasfiya). The nose is Qanbar, because he was the messenger of the Commander of the Faithful—Exalted be His mention —to those below him in rank.

The Commander of the Faithful—Exalted be His mention

—said: "I am the nose of guidance," and this applies to Qanbar due to the saying of the Prince of Bees (Amir alNahl)—Exalted be His mention: "Acquire them, O Qanbar, for I have traversed the heavens and the earth and found no believer other than you."

Snuffing (Al-Su'ut) is the health of the head and the purity of the body from all ailments. The meaning of Al-Su'ut is the Gate's (Al-Bab) call to this creation towards gnosis— the gnosis of Allah, Glory be to Him. Whosoever responds, He removes from him infirmities, calamities, burdens, and maladies.
